My husband and I have told our children that the most important thing that they learn and will keep learning is about the Bible and their relationship with Jesus Christ. We start our homeschool day reading the bible together and as my kids have gotten older they immediately follow this time with their personal Bible study time. This school year I am happy to review Positive Action Bible Curriculum’s 4th Grade – Building Life Castles. It has been a wonderful resource for 9 year old son’s Bible Study this year.
What 4th Grade – Building Life Castles Teaches
Positive Action Bible Curriculum’s Building Life Castles Study is for 4th grade level students. It includes guided study, independent Bible study, and memory work. Building Life Castles teaches kids how they can grow in their relationship with God by learning more about Jesus and his Word. It focuses on teaching the about the life of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Paul’s ministry. Each lesson guides children into reading the Bible and understanding what they are reading and relating it to their life. There are quizzes for each lesson in the back of the teacher’s manual. They are great to make sure students are learning and understanding each lesson.
The teacher’s manual gives suggestions for introducing the lessons to your students and teaching the Bible concepts and themes. It provides activities to complete with students and discussion questions. The student book provides a great way for students to study and respond to their Bible reading independently. Each lesson has 4 parts that are easily spread out throughout each week. The teachers guides provides easy to follow suggestions for a weekly schedule. Each lesson provides activity, daily reading, and questions or an activity to help students understand the passage. Activities vary from discussion questions, to crossword puzzles.
How we are using Building Life Castles
My 9 year old son Caleb and I have enjoyed using Building Life Castles, 4th Grade together. We are following the 5-day weekly schedule. I have been going over the lesson with him each, week, introducing the concepts, vocabulary and scripture for the week. Then Caleb works through the activities in the student workbook independently. It has been great to gradually build his independence in his Bible study time with part of lessons being guided, and part of it being independent. We also are working on the the weekly memory verse together. Then Caleb does the quiz at the end of the week.
The curriculum is fully based on scripture and provides foundational teaching for kids. The purpose of the curriculum is to point students to growing with God. I am excited to continue working through this curriculum with Caleb this year. I know that he will continue to grow in his Bible knowledge and His relationship with Jesus as we complete this study together.
